Teaching Math, Engineering, Technology and Science, 6 grade through undergraduate school since 1981
A place where 6, 7 and 8 graders can learn age and skill appropriate math and science for $10.00 and hour per week for up to 3 hours a week. Programs for algebra I and II students, trigonometry and geometry students as well as calculus I, II and III students are available too, although prices are higher, see www.affordabletutor.org for details. At a time when our public schools are suffering budget crises and performance woes, would not it be great to have a place where students can enrich their public, private or homeschooled math and science educational programs for $10.00 a week? Classes are limited to 3 students to maximize the student teacher experience. Classes are taught by an engineering physicist whose experience includes NASA Ames, Naval Surface Weapons Research Center, Fermi Laboratory, two NASA Mars Mission Research Centers and 27 years experience teaching 6 grade through adults as old as 62. All programs are self paced and guided study. Each program is designed to identify and address weaknesses, develop interest and skills as well as challenge each student’s limits through independent study skill development. If you know of some one who can benefit from this opportunity, pass the word.
Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I began tutoring physics at North Carolina A and T State University in august of 1981. In August of 1982 I became involved in the Peer Advisor Leadership Program. In May of 1983 I taught with the Greensboro Area Math and Science Edcucational Consortiom. In 1986 I developed ABC Educational Consultants.
What is your primary product or service?
I develop personalized educational programs for students grades six through undergraduate school in Math, Engineering, Science and Technology.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Early on, I became engulfed in the feeling that you get when someone realy grasp a concept for the first time and can demonstrate a level of understanding required to explain accuratley what is that they have learned. This is what I strive for every day. That time when a student shows that he or she has discovered a new skill and can demonstrate that they have mastered their new found ability.
My back ground is exstensive and can best be summed up by my resume:

How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
My business is unique because I maintain a maximum student to teacher ratio of 3:1. This ensures that all students needs are adressed. This allows me to charge as little as 10.00 per hour for my 6 through 8 grade programs. My private tutoring price gets cheaper the more you use me each week. No one can provide the level of expertise for the price that I charge.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I have one location and I am looking to franchise.
Provide detailed directions to your location

What type of payments do you accept?
Cash or check.
Which areas do you service?
I am open to the piedmont triad community.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I own and operate the facility with the aide of my wife.
What are your hours of operation?
I am currenty open Monday through Friday from 5:30 pm until 10:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am untill 9:00 pm. This is because I am currently involved with a Quality Control Research Contract with Flint Trading.
